Discover the creativity in yourself and the surprising possibilities of experimental silk painting. During the workshop you will learn what the effect is of working with various transparent layers, making the paint flow, but also stopping the paint. You will be introduced to working with brushes, templates, stamps and other tools. But above all, you learn to intuitively fill the white silk with color and shape.
We will use Ponge/Habotai 5 silk. This type of silk gives a beautiful result for silk painting. And because it is very thin, you can also use it for nuno-felting.
No previous painting experience required to participate this workshop.
This live online workshop is from 5.30 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. with a half-hour break.
This means that the workshops for participants from Canada and America are during the daytime.
For this workshop you need:
A frame (made from battens, screws and nuts or a simple wooden picture frame)
Risers 10 cm high, like tins or books
Silk: habotai/ponge 5mm metrage or scarves
Hair dryer and extension cord
Pins, staples or silk clamps
4 colors Dupont silk dye, red, blue, yellow, black
Alcohol
Brushes: variety watercolour, paint, foam brushes
Sponges
Spray bottle
Pipettes
Paper towel
Gloves
Various containers
Optional
Textile markers - alcohol
Stencils
You will receive more information about making a frame and stretching the silk later.
And also about where to buy your tools and materials.
After the workshop you will have access to a movie about a simple method for steaming your painted silk at home.
