On request, I created a farewell shroud to complement the floral dress the deceased would wear. A colorful floral design, felted with jade green Merino wool.
This farewell shroud was commissioned with a personal request: to match the floral dress the deceased would be wearing. That dress, with its flower print, formed the inspiration for the design.
I painted flowers on a light turquoise background. The hand-painted silk was then felted with soft Merino wool in a jade green tone – a beautiful match with the turquoise and bright floral colors.
The shroud started from seven meters of hand-painted silk. After felting, two panels remained, each measuring 300 x 100 cm. These were carefully sewn together to create a spacious shroud of approximately 300 x 200 cm.
The result is a supple, strong farewell shroud, with a subtle sheen from the silk layer. The colorful flowers and flowing shapes give a loving character to the piece, harmonizing with the chosen dress.
