The basis for each handpainted scarf is white Pongé silk fitted with a roll hem. The fabric is stretched on a large wooden frame and then handpainted by Ellen Bakker. Sometimes she will combine painting with other techniques such as stamping or air-brushing. After its application, the special silk paint is fixed in a steam machine, to retain the colour. The scarves are quite large in size, measuring 180x90 cm and they are thin and soft, causing them to smoothly drape around the neck and ensuring they are wonderful to wear. These are unique scarves, which add a significant accent to your clothing or enhance the colours of your attire. In the webshop you will find handpainted scarves in an abundance of different colours and patterns.
Besides the handpainted scarves, Colorsofellen also has a collection of high-standard printed scarves. These scarves have a predominantly graphic pattern, digitally designed by Ellen Bakker. Her many years of experience as a graphic designer become apparent in the distinct and unique patterns. The designs can be printed on various silk fabrics such as Pongé, Crêpe de Chine and Limone, but also on a combination of wool with Rayon, for example.
