I paint silk by hand, but I also design patterns on the computer, which I have printed on silk.
I felt the silk with Merino wool. Through the felting process, the fibers of the wool pass through the silk and eventually form a new sturdy fabric together. As a result, the pattern of the silk becomes part of the wool. Then I stick the felt on a sturdy surface and cut out tight circles. I stick these (with some distance) on cardboard, which I then put in a (square) frame.
Square frames go so well with circle shapes.
I got so caught up in this circle making project that even the wall of my workshop had to suffer :) Here I painted large circles and combined them with felt circles without a frame.
